Prof. Vimala Veeraraghavan, a Gold Medallist in MA Psychology with a doctorate from the University of Delhi, headed the Department of Psychology and Applied Psychology at the same university. She pioneered the Applied Psychology department, introducing practical training in the field at the University of Delhi’s South Campus.
After retirement she served as Professor and Director General of the Amity Institute of Behavioural Health and Allied Sciences, Amity University, Noida, where she established the Departments of Psychology and Forensic Sciences and instituted graduate, postgraduate, M.Phil and PhD programmes in psychology and clinical psychology.
She has also served as Emeritus Professor of Psychology at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), where she established the psychology department, and as Associate Professor at the Zakir Husain Centre for Educational Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. She has been a visiting professor at Thammasat University, Bangkok, and has presented papers and chaired sessions at national and international conferences.
