Professor Vimala Veeraraghavan , a Gold Medalist in MA Psychology and doctorate from University of Delhi has headed the Department of Psychology and Applied Psychology in the same university. She has been the pioneer in setting up the Applied Psychology department, introducing practical training in the field at the South campus, University of Delhi. Later after retirement, she served as Professor and Director General, Amity Institute of Behavioural Health and Allied Sciences, Amity University, Noida. Here too she established the department of psychology and Department of Forensic sciences, instituted the graduate, postgraduate, M.Phil Ph.D programme in psychology and Clinical psychology. She is currently working as Emeritus Professor (Psychology), Education and Dean Academics at Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram. She has earlier worked at Indira Gandhi National Open University as Emeritus Professor, Psychology, and established the psychology department in that university offering graduate, post graduate and PhD programmes in psychology; and has also worked in the Jawaharlal Nehru University as Associate Professor in the Zakir Hussain Center for Educational Studies. She has teaching, training and research experience of over 40 years at Delhi University, Post graduate, M.Phil and Ph.D levels. She has guided more than thirty Ph.D and M.Phil students in psychology. Apart from presenting papers and chairing sessions in national and international conferences, she has also been a visiting professor at Thammasat University, Bangkok.

She has been the recipient of many awards, amongst which the notable ones are those of The Asiatic Society Award which is a prestigious award for her lifelong contribution to psychology; The Health and Wellness award for contribution to psychology, mental health and related areas by the Amity University Rajasthan; The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Teacher Fellowship award; and The Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) National Fellowship award. Lifetime Achievement award by Global Open University, Nagaland. She has authored 22 books, and contributed chapters in many books written by renowned professionals. More than 60 articles published in indexed journals (India and Foreign).
